80's Bridesmaids

Isn't it odd that we tend to discredit things by attaching titles to them of past faux pas? But those things were infact cool back then or "in" or "hip" right?, so this inevitably will lead to current trends (that we currently like) etc. being named in the future to describe something that's not cool.
